I believe that is the way the stock market has always worked. Very few people buy stock hoping to lose money on the transaction. What's your point!

I strongly recommend to get a copy of Value Line and read about when to buy airlines. Value Line indicates this:
(1) Buy airlines when earnings are bad.
(2) Sell airlines when earnings are good.

My point is "we will always have airlines"....
...and we will always have "chips".

And we will always have people who buy at the wrong point in the cycle. IMHO
