Well, it was certainly profitable for U. S. companies finance the Nazis. The Walker-Bush family did quite well doing that very thing through Union Bank. In fact they did so well they refused to get out while the getting was good like some of the smarter U. S. based banks.

As a result there was that whole nasty Trading with the Enemy Act and Seizure Order incident thingy. Completely avoidable. But, then again the Bush family, while a tool of the truly wealthy, demonstrates it is often not the sharpest tool in the shed and gets left holding the bag like good, loyal functionaries. Fortunately for them Walker and Grampy Bush didn't do jail time on that one. Lost some of their ass ets though.
