Does it make sense to go from a one chip solution to a two chip solution merely to provide support for HT?

My $89 Asus A7S-VM system has also been very reliable (SiS 730) but it hasn't really been pushed very hard. The integrated components have all been satisfactory (sound, graphics, LAN) so the system hardware cost was pretty modest. I only miss the OC...
