if you think about it, he didn't have much choice in the matter. the industry really is in trouble up to its eyeballs. LTV is in its umpteenth bankruptcy (up 67% today btw.) , Wheelin' Pittsburgh is in bankruptcy, and the list of fatalities and near fatalities goes on and on. at the very least their claim that Korean, Japanese, et al. steel producers use the US as a dumping ground merits an investigation. true, the steel industry is the chief whiner regarding alleged dumping, and probably most of its claims are exaggerated (the steel industry is in trouble worldwide). but IF dumping occurs, it is a serious matter.
of course from our PoV all that counts is that if one is long the stocks this is a welcome development.
