New York, June 5 (BridgeNews) - NYMEX Jly crude futures ended higher
Tuesday, as OPEC ministers meeting in Vienna decided to keep crude
production unchanged. Gasoline futures had a brief midday rally on news of
an unplanned outage at a BP catcracker in Louisiana, but profit-taking and
a weakening spot market causing the up-tick to fizzle. With OPEC producing
no output change, the market awaits American Petroleum Institute inventory
data Tuesday afternoon.

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Kuwaiti Oil Minister Adel al-Subaih said Tuesday a new drilling contract for Arabian Oil Co. (J.ARA or 1603) would give the Japanese firm operational rights, but not rights of possession in extracting oil from Kuwaiti fields, Kyodo News reported.

The Kuwaiti minister, speaking to reporters in Vienna on the sidelines of a meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, said a new contract would be completely different in form from the current one, which is due to expire in January 2003, Kyodo reported.

Anyway, the oil/natural gas issue is "In the news" and here to stay for a while, no matter how they try to twist the facts.
