I am going to print out your post and show it to my history professor - he was explaining the German ideology before WWII last night - he'll probably get a kick out of you. He told us the Germans looked down on the French because of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution, because they were threats to the aristocracy. He told us that the Germans looked down on the Jews because they were not allowed to own land or be soldiers, which the Germans idealized. He told us the Germans looked down on trade. Well, it went on, and on, three hours of explanations of things the Germans thought and believed, my hand got cramped, I took 15 pages of notes!

How fascinating to meet someone like you in the flesh, so to speak.

What "tainted" the Marquis de Lafayette? The French Revolution? Not enough refrigeration?
