Carter imposed a similar tax on oil company profits. He called it Windfall Profit Tax. Bad idea then, bad idea now.

Joe, Joe, joe - you keep trying to blame the Feds for California's energy problems - but what did they do. C'mon, be specific - if you are gonna blame the feds, tell me just how they created the California problem.

hey, I guess you can say that Clinton in his 8 years never had an energy policy - but that affected the country as a whole - and yet its California with the problem. So that can't be it.

then you go on to blame FERC - for NOT allowing rate increases. Huh ???? On one hand you argue that rates need lowered / capped - on the other you say they should have been raised long ago and you blame FERC for not allowing them. please, make up your mind here.

If California hadn't botched their deregualtion plan, and either increased capacity or at least locked themselves into long term contracts, you wouldn't have the problem. But CA didn't - so don't cry for the rest of the country or the Feds to bail you out soon.

Now CA is ofrced to deal with the spot market for supply when demand peaks - and spot market prices are MUCH higher - but there is a reason for that - its because it COSTS more to produce - and it COSTS more to transmit longer distances.

As far as a fight / war - Joe you are really stretching things there - c'mon be realistic. And you and your neighbors need to learn to take responsibility for your actions - yes YOUR actions - as it was YOU who elected the CA politicians that botched deregulation - and it was YOU who blocked new plants from being built.

You made your bed, now lie in it

(and again, I use YOU as a collective term, not an individual one)
