Dennis, ok, I now understand where you are coming from - and I think you misunderstood my initial post somewhat. I was not placing the majority of the balme on liberal tree huggers. Actually, the politicians and public who supported faulty deregulation in California should bear the brunt of the blame. But when it comes to building new plants, yes the environmentalists are also at fault, along with all those with NIMBY syndrome, including the local politicains.

No, I am not naive concerning how local politics works - Far from it, but you see the problem that occurs when to many local politicians fall prey to the NIMBY syndrome. they want someone else to bear the burden of new power plants, local jails, and other unwanted necessities, while they sit back in theor local version of utopia and reap the benefits. Unfortunately, it can't always work that way. Someone needs to bear the burden if they want to share in the benefits. So all those folks who were against building new power plants in CA (whether they be environmentalists, NIMBY's, local politicans with no guts, or others for whateve reason) now have to bear the pain from their own decisions.

Its only fair. Shouldn't folks be RESPONSIBLE for their own actions ?????
