Its still early. And Bush had a lot of falsified Demolib election baggage he has been struggling to shed. Eventually the truth does come out and eventually Bush's numbers will rise.

<<<Junior ran as a moderate. He is well on his way to proving he is way to the right of his father and even to the right of that actor who played the part of the president. He is a right winger who has surrounded himself with other right wingers.>>

I do hope and pray you are right.

Yeah, I saw smug Barbara Bush on tv. She said his "son is getting his." Then,
she paused and waited for the audience to laugh. It's funny? Her grand daughters are boozers and were
arrested.

How many parents would think that funny? I'm sure Mothers AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING
were furious.

BUT THEN it's okay if the Bushes turn into drunks and are arrested because Barbara
and "W" believes that they are special and above the law.

You think Barbara Bush laughed about her son's reported cocaine conviction back
in the 70s?

Perhaps she showed up on Texas TV and tried to make a joke about it even though
Jr. refuses to answer questions about his use of cocaine.

Here's an excerpt from SALON

"As has been well documented, Gov. Bush refuses to discuss his
possible past drug use, but he is not shy in championing some of
the harshest drug laws in the country against kids who come from
neighborhoods like the Bottoms.

Under the previous Texas governor, Ann Richards, first-time offenders received
automatic probation with drug counseling; when he ran against her,
candidate Bush ridiculed this approach, calling it 'Penal Code Lite.'

Once he was in office, Bush signed a law ending such foolishness.
Now, recreational users, first time offenders and even those
caught with less than a gram face jail time: six months to two
years.

Cynthia Cline, a Houston criminal defense attorney who is often
appointed by the court to defend such cases, says most of her
clients are poor, minority, and will lose. At $130 a day, Cline
says, "you're not paid to prepare. The police will stop people of
color in certain neighborhoods for any reason you can think of,
like not wearing seat belts, routine traffic stops, not coming to a
complete stop at a stop sign. Then they search everyone and
everything."

"……Cline is angered by what she sees as Bush's hypocrisy on the drug issue.

"Ann Richards talked about overcoming her alcoholism. Why
can't he?

He could tell people about why they should get off drugs, not just throw away the key, but it looks like he's forgotten about rehabilitation."

(Actually, Bush does talk about rehab. "Incarceration is
rehabilitation," he has stated.)

"Texas Gov. George W. Bush has presided over a crackdown on
first-time drug offenders from poor neighborhoods like Houston's
Third Ward Bottoms."

Bush sent the poor to jail for drug use. But the goodie-goodie Bush family members
are free even though W was arrested and now his daughters have been arrested for booze.
They broke the law. The Bush daughters should be treated like everyone else who breaks the law..

Have you read about Jena Bush's reported use of pot? There's a discussion at SALON
Don't know if it is true. Don't know the background for the story. Thought you might be interested
though.

The Drunk Boyfriend. Is this Bush's daughter first recorded encounter with booze?

March 2, 2001

Arrested Man Spoke of Bush Daughter

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

F ORT WORTH, Tex., March 1 — A Texas Christian University student
who described himself as a boyfriend of President Bush's daughter Jenna was picked
up by Secret Service agents after his release from jail, a sheriff says.

Sheriff Dee Anderson of Tarrant County was quoted today in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the student, William Ashe Bridges, who was arrested and issued
a citation on suspicion of public intoxication on Sunday,
was later allowed to make a phone call that jail officials believed was
to Jenna Bush and her Secret Service escort. "A few minutes later,
a black Suburban and some Secret Service agents showed up" at the jail,
Sheriff Anderson told the newspaper.

Mr. Bridges, an 18-year-old freshman, was arrested at a private residence near the university. Robert Cloud, a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission sergeant, said officers received complaints of loud music and beer bottles.

A Secret Service spokesman, Tony Ball, would not comment today. Noelia Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for Laura Bush in Washington, also said, "We're not making any comments about this incident."

Ms. Bush, 19, is a freshman at the University of Texas.

Exxon's notion of scientific research --Mephisto

"In particular, the Exxon chairman, Lee
Raymond, has referred approvingly to a
1998 petition apparently signed by 17,000
scientists questioning the evidence for
global warming.

However, it later emerged
that the petition had been circulated by a
certain Oregon Institute for Science and
Medicine, an obscure body of eccentric
views whose headquarters turned out to
be a large tin shed.

The petition had been disguised as the
work of the National Academy of
Sciences and it had been "signed" by
such authorities as Ginger Spice and the
fictional doctors from the sit-com
M.A.S.H."

FYI: Message 15248663

I am strongly in favor of this. Mature, even if heated, discourse without personal attacks on individuals or groups,
and no focus on "getting even" for past conduct. Clean slate, one way or another.
