Hi Ali Chen; Re the AMD-761, AMD-762 and unbuffered memory...

The bit that controls registered vs unbuffered is the same in both chips, so it may be that AMD kept the bit in the AMD-762 just as a form of compatibility, in the event that they wanted to add unbuffered capability later.

The true test would be to install some unbuffered memory in an AMD-762 based system and see if you could get it to talk.
