However, other than aluminum (and oil), I'd be hard pressed to come up with a mining stock that has done well over the years.

Here are 120 week charts for the US ADRs for the two biggest diversified resources multinationals, Rio Tinto and BHP (with the Billiton merger it will certainly eb one of the biggest):

Both have risen a lot from where they were just over two years ago, there has also been a fairly recent rise after a long plateau.

Looking at the monthly charts there certainly could be some upside in these two but they aren't at their cyclical lows, so I don't know about a bull market. But who knows, you could be right about the latter?
