The same is true for other networking companies ... consider
Juniper, folks who joined Juniper last year got options that are in $150 - $200 range, they are all under water, where do
they go ? Cisco is not hiring, the only companies that are hiring are startups but 90% are in optical space (its a jungle).

There are certainly trade offs to everything. However, one big tradeoff for many employees at many companies is an option package in lieu of a higher salary. If the options don't pan out, what would you do? I may take a look at other employment options once the general economic malaise is over. But again, that's just me. It would be a mistake to project my thinking on everyone, but it would also be a mistake to not consider the potential attrition to Cisco from their being cheap on replacing underwater options with new ones with lower strike prices.
