Today, there are over 300 RDRAM-based systems available including desktop PCs, workstations, consumer platforms as well as high performance, single and dual processor motherboards. RDRAM devices with data rate transfers of up to 800MHz enable a single Rambus Channel to achieve bandwidth of up to 1.6 gigabytes per second. Rambus technology allows architects the flexibility to incorporate multiple channels to scale memory capacity and bandwidth to meet system requirements. Intel 840 and Intel 850 chipset-based desktops and PC workstations and Sony's PlayStation(R)2 utilize two Rambus Channels for a total of 3.2 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth.
