Good point. There should be checks on the system. That there are not says more about us than the government. NOTHING should be left to the government.

My issue is with inclusion. Either we are continuing to include people in our society and consider them on leave for "correction," or we are done with them and have no real, practical, and predictable intent to return them to society as our neighbors. If not lets assess our options, we can pay billions to house them long term in a prison: which usually is a revolving door of heinous crime because the system can't deal with all the issues. We can continue to do this instead of saving starving children and correcting health care for our dying elderly parents, etc. etc. etc. Take a serious look at the population in prisons and ask yourself if you would be OK having all of these people as neighbors. I have done this.
