Certainly a rally to 3,000 this year is not impossible. But, the market would have to go into another speculative bubble to do so. Once you get to 3,000 you're talking pretty hefty PEs again. Of course, if a strong upturn is anticipated next year that will significantly increase earnings, perhaps 3,000 would seem reasonable.
