"On balance, I don't think that the added functionality is good enough to pay more for.''

Setting aside handoff problems, screen freezing, and battery drain, SK offers far superior functionality now, including VOD - and greater at year's end with the 5100 @ 300+kbs max

Question for Mighty and others technically literate:

With asynchronous, I understand that the handset must work much harder as compared to synchronous, where the base stations do the handoff heavy lifting....

Is this the reason for battery drain problems?

Also, it's interesting that NTT has declined to report average speeds..

I saw a statement by a user that I-Mode seemed fast compared to the standard 9kbs service - which really doesn't say much... I wonder if max speeds approach even 64kbs??

I'll wager that if speeds were good, we'd damn sure hear about it. <g>.
