I use Solomon Smith Barney for some options trades. Their analyst missed a ton of tech upside. Their clients who followed him must have been really ticked. Yet he is still working. I wonder why.

Bogle may be responsible for part of the effect. Stock pickers (and analysts) often try to find value off the beaten track, which can cause them to focus on smaller issues. But with the rise of index funds, bigness can be worth as much as growth in attracting investment dollars. Thus, stock pickers can underperform through no fault of their own.

JMHO.
