Freep, Thanks for the update on Intel.
The movement ahead of Intel's mid-quarter update seems to indicate to me that many investors are looking down the road towards year end. Even if there is not a sustained recovery in the PC market, it is very probable that WindowsXP launch will cause a spike in PC sales at year end and that may be good enough for investors at this point. Tax rebates may also be a small factor in overall spending later this year. Too many potential positives to not buy Intel now seems to be the message.

The other issue that may help PC demand (a little more)is the fact that they are now offering non-Rambus chipsets for the Pentium 4.

That capex spending may also be for the same reason...to get lean for the Window XP in late October. Of course, Intel would be shipping its chips somewhat earlier than the Windows launch.
