hi ray

re, "So, you think recreating the floppies should be a regular ritual"...

time for us to be very clear on our terminology.

there's 'create' and there's 'update'. i have recommended that you update the disks on a regular schedule. creating them is, as the name implies, starting all over.

in your original question, i paid careful attention to what you were asking. you kinda' mixed and matched the terms a bit...

"I regularly update the Norton anti-virus definitions but haven't been recreating the floppy disks for a while. I'm wondering if you have an opinion on this approach? I hate to spend the time the floppies take, and wonder if they really need frequent updating"...

so i made a point of using only the update term in my reply...

"i update my rescue disks as frequently as i update the virus definitions...i never begrudge the time it takes to update the disks"....

but our good friend gottfried did away with all potential for confusion by calling attention to the two different terms in his #reply-15905123

so, long story endless..... yes, i think the disks should be updated frequently.

:)
