There is something undemocratic about the advantage long-term legislators have in freezing out other members of the democracy from serving some time in the legislature.

With term limits those who support candidates financially would have to be more even-handed in their support because the risk of pissing someone off who might win is greater.

I don't think the complete idiots are there due to term limits but to bad voter decisions. - I could be wrong on that though because it is harder to get a handle on someone. But then voters could learn to elect people who have performed in other facets of life.
