Re Caspian oil and OPEC:

IMO the Caspian oil discoveries are very big news, and of vast import for oil prices over the next 10 years or so. This has been little remarked upon by few if any "oil analysts".

That big vat of oil up in Kazakhstan threatens to do what North sea oil did to OPEC. Once it is developed, it represents probably an even larger threat to OPEC control over prices than did the North sea.

Will OPEC keep the spigots open to slow development to a crawl?

Hmmmmmmmmm. Stranger things have happened.

Remember those two little words that are very important to ole OPEC? MARKET SHARE.
