How do you feel about options that are considered compensation? Consider, for example, an executive who takes options in lieu of cash compensation (which, in the 90's was a no brainer - it was like shooting fish in a barrel).

Another good point in the article is the executives who sold in the NASDAQ gold rush said they wanted to diversify their portfolios. Reckon they bought JDSU and KOOP? :-)

I am personally affected by the trend of replacing pension plans with a bit of cash and a few options, so I have rather mixed feelings about this type of compensation, but in the end, my personal priority is, of course, my family's security.
