Motorola wins 3G contracts in Brazil
June 5, 2001
SAO PAULO, Brazil—Motorola Inc. said it has signed three contracts valued at $52 million to supply third-generation
cellular infrastructure to Brazil’s Global Telecom.
The CDMA-based deal, which lays the groundwork for data transmission and Internet access coverage in the future,
will cover the states of Parana and Santa Catarina, according to a press statement.

“These investments enable us to fulfill our promise to provide our clients with services of excellent quality as well as
expanding our area of coverage, both of which are core concerns for Global Telecom,” said Amilcar Piazzeztta
Marques, technology vice president of Global Telecom.

Finally a somewhat correct article on GPRS-EDGE-3G, even on TDMA and just touching the bandwidth issue.

However, it fails to mention that everyone doesn't have a 3G
license everywhere, but have a GSM-GPRS network.
