Re: Karl Marx - Jude Wanniski, of all people, recommends reading "Capital," which I never have. I picked up a copy from the library - the Modern Library edition that Wanniski's grandfather gave him - it sure looks German to me. Probably worth reading, and I am going to give it a try.

Re: French - I'm also part French, as well as English, German, Croatian, and American Indian. People of French heritage in South Louisiana are very different from the rest of the South. I think the Louisiana French assimilated the English, myself, but I do speak the English language exclusively. I know quite a bit about the French (and Spanish) legal system, and could tell you about how it's affected the American legal system, but don't want to bore you.:)
