How did you know what I was thinking?.............Chicken Little Lives in Detroit.
The Big Three auto companies have been aggressively attacking the proposed treaty to limit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide that are responsible for global warming. And with good reason: the average car in the U.S. emits over 12,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have stated that requiring more environmentally friendly cars which produce less carbon dioxide would have a devastating impact on the U.S. auto industry.
In the past, the Big Three have made similar claims about other critical issues of automotive safety, pollution control and fuel economy -- each time claiming that Detroit couldn't possibly meet mandates for safer and better cars. Like Chicken Little, the auto executives shouted that the sky was falling. However, the automakers have been wrong in the past, and they're wrong about global warming too.
