les, i've figured out that the wealthy know the name of the game isn't about tax cuts per se. the name of the game is getting more money than everyone else.

while a person making minimum wage would be happy with $500, steve forbes would be a bitter soul if he received $500. he wants $10 million (maybe a LOT more!).

any inflationary boost that would wipe out much the $500 for the poor person would be nicely absorbed by steve forbes' $10 million.

the best scenario is less govt (meaning much less bureaucratic / corporate welfare millions in lobby create!) then everyone could pay less - with a focus on developing those folks who made the big sin of picking poor parents.

my value system tells me that reducing my taxes so poor folks have less food on the table isn't the decent and honorable thing to do. value systems may vary. ;-)
