Joe, yet remarkably, even late, it outperforms intel's top-of-the-line dual P4 solution, and will extend its lead by another 15% or so by the end of the month (when the 1.4MP ships)

And it costs less, too.

Is there a segment left where Intel holds the performance crown?

4 and 8-way servers, I suppose.

Not a bad two year's progress, eh?

As for Tier1 MP partners, "if you build it, they will come" -- as with the Athlon before it.

Jozef, Duh, at least not a vapor launch, Intel style, it is gaining on Intel as we speak. New boards made and sold.
The conservative nature of the server scene make this a sloow, but inexorable process. Intel will now start those long goodbye kisses to their share in serverspace with various partners as they will all prove to be fickle and run around on her.
