It strikes me that earlier last year we were applauding several people who had held MSFT, INTC or some other TEch giant since "X" date and had watched initial investments turn into multi million dollar portfolio's because of their patience. (or ambivalence).

April 2000, I made a decision to Hold my investments since I did not anticipate needing the funds for more than 10 years. I will say that it has been uncomfortable to see most of the gains erased. Perhaps I have been naive ( my wife certainly thinks so for doing so).

Having said that, I did sell some of the more risky (my view) of the W&W candidates and used the funds to buy more of those companies that I believed did have a lasting competitive advantage. Was this the right thing to do, time will tell.

One of my West Texas Oil patch friends says "The sun don't shine on the same dog's back every day." For the past year it has not shined on my dogs' back. If we chose the right dogs we will be rewarded for caring and nurturing them through the dark days. << I hope!>
