In the survey of more than 200 communications service providers and enterprises, nearly 70 percent of enterprise customers and more than 70 percent of service providers said they are beginning to see signs of growth in the sector, Marconi said. In addition, 54 percent of the survey's enterprise customers and 65 percent of the service providers said they planned to increase their spending over the next 12 months.

Based on those statistics, Marconi CEO-designate John Mayo said the turnaround may already have begun.

Ibexx, thanks for posting that article.

That is a very interesting story. That is also in the worst sector in technology. If by chance that very weak sector has been seeing a bottom, the rest of tech may already be prepared for growth...at least that could be how the market will sees it. Telecom spending involves big, expensive projects
I am not convinced of the telecommunication sector recovery near term but am making note of any positive comments from companies in that group and what potential impact it could have on the stocks.
The reason I say that it is positive for other technology sectors is that those groups--software, storage, PCs require smaller expenditure levels.
That is also why Cisco is believed to be recovering faster than Lucent and Nortel.....due to their enterprise business.

If by chance we get other CEOs of that group make positive comments.....

btw--I am still negative on the telecommunication sector's fundamentals but want to get in as soon as there are clear signs of a stabilization or rebound. When there is concrete proof of recovery, it would be too late to buy for the most gain.
