Now you're just being silly...

Everybody knows that there was no english translation to replace Coat with Goat prior to the Council of Nicea (325 AD).

However, if you look at the Septaguint translation, you find that "coat" is really from the greek "athendaba", which is very similar to "athenbada", which translates into "Gerbil".

I think maybe Jacob was more enamored with his smaller furry friends, rather than goats.
