"The iBook runs OS X, but I haven't installed it on my G4 tower (awaiting final drivers, e.g., for Wacom tablet)."

Tim, OS X Apps are coming along nicely. I just yesterday converted my Cube over to OS X only. I don't have a single MS App installed. I don't even have the classic environment installed. Appleworks 6.1.2 provides all the Office Apps and compatibility with Word and Excel documents.

My Powerbook awaits Midi drivers before the conversion to OS X as my primary use for that machine is to drive my Yamaha DC5 Pro disklavier. So it still mostly runs under OS 9.1 with Digital Performer. The exception is when I take it on the road, I boot to OS X for all the other Apps. Note for all you Wintelites, there is simply no comparable program on the Wintel platform that can do what Digital Performer on a Mac can do. (And yes, I know all about Cubase, and Pro Tools, blah, blah, blah...so don't even start with me.)

Same comment applies to Final Cut Pro for movies.

Speaking of software development environments, the Objective C/Java Cocoa environment under OS X with Project Builder and Interface Builder is really amazing.
