Que, total sales were up. A good thing! Same store sales were down. A bad thing!

Retailers took a hit on CNBC this morning. Some retail analyst stating that near term people should take profits. Longer term he said retail will do fine. I believe it will too.

Companies like GADZ have already taken their hit and there aren't any profits to take for most of their shareowners. You and I have a profit but I don't see the stock displaying a trend reversal here. In fact, it's coming along nicely. Nice and slow and mainly up.

When the tax refunds start flowing and the interest rate cuts start showing up in the economy, you'll see these retailers moving even higher, in my opinion.

I'm struggling here to prevent myself from overweighting myself in retailers.

The big drop in GADZ's share price a couple of week's ago had more to do with the CEO using the words "screwed up" to the analysts when asked to give future guidance. Instead of saying we have no forward vision, she said something like the market is screwed up so we don't know.

The analysts didn't have "screwed up" in their glossary so they didn't know how to respond. Therefore, they penalized the stock. In fact, the stock rose in after hours on the earnings numbers and it wasn't until the CEO mentioned those words during the CC that the stock fell.

The charts say hang on, it's going higher. They may say something different tomorrow but for now it's, damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead.
