there will be when you install the service pack. it'll say advanced or updated version and will list sp2.

no. plus, as tc pointed out, we're up to sp2 now, and to my understanding, this will bring your 5.0 forward. [edit in: here's a quote from the ms sp2 site tc posted.... "Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2 can be installed as an upgrade to existing versions of Internet Explorer, or on computers with no previous Internet Explorer installation."]

but why not just go with ie5.5sp1? you're looking at downloading and installing browser stuff.... go for new. heck, that isn't even that new... some guys on this thread are test driving beta6.0!
