You would think this would be the ideal place for solar heating, but for some reason it hasn't caught on here. I think it will become more popular now, however. There are considerable problems connected with our solar -- too complicated to go into here -- but let's just say it isn't "user friendly". For one thing, the whole building is served by a central system. When that is shut down for the summer, unless the water still circulates in the system, the pipes get clogged with sludge (don't ask!), and so this summer when the system is shut down, we're going to have to drain it and replace a lot of corroded valves. A valve had to be replaced in my living room last winter, and since the whole system couldn't be shut down, the water gushed out when the pipe was cut. My carpet got wet, but the worst of it was having to replace the ceiling of the people below me. Like I said -- there are considerable problems ...
