Hi Tim
All I can say is that you will find Him if you seek Him. None of us can claim to have found God on the strength of our own faith God has reached out and shown himself to us, even though we were not looking for Him.

God reveals Himself in the created order, from microbes to the Cosmos, there is design and purpose, everywhere you look. He has revealed Himself through human conscience, that is, He has written His Law on our hearts, so that we have an instinctive knowledge of right and wrong. He has revealed himself through the common grace, and goodness that he extends to all humanity. He has revealed Himself through his workings with the nation of Israel, in both blessings and curses. He spoke to Prophets in visions, and dreams and through angelic messengers, to warn and to announce the coming of one who would bring about reconciliation with God by taking away our sin. Finally He sent His Son to live a perfect life, and then He offered that life as a sacrifice for us, conquering death, He rose again the third day. He will come again, and "every eye will see Him". "Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess, that Jesus Christ is LORD".

I sense that you already know that what I say is true. If you acknowledge your own sinfulness and are willing to turn away from evil and to Jesus in faith. He will receive you and forgive you. "Ask and you will receive, Knock, and the door will be opened"
