From a historic perspective Jews became Bankers because of Catholic laws against USURY(profiting form loans).

It is in fact the truth that Jews were invited by the establishment in Central Europe to move to their countries in order to carry out functions which religion forbade Christians to engage in, e.g., banking and trade.

LLCF, In Russia Jews were not allowed to own land, so they had to be shoemakers, traders etc. They were not allowed to be admitted to universities. Jewish population were under quota in big cities.

this is correct. Emperor Josef the Second of Austria was badgered to exclude Jews from certain professions (all manufacture, basically) by the gentile practitioners of same. however, as a quid pro quo, he issued an edict that gave the Jews the 'Zinsprivileg', the exclusive right to lend money and charge interest. as a result, many jews entered the banking biz, as well as non-manufacture professions, i.e. many became doctors and lawyers for instance, as well as shop keepers. Vienna before Hitler had a vibrant and large Jewish community, numbering over 200.000. after WW2, almost none were left...most were killed in Hitler's so-called 'final solution' campaign.
