Buying the right dog(or finding the next Dell)
This is equivalent to being a spectator observing an arena filled with 10000 Greyhounds and picking the
one which will win the most races in his class. Small ones, big ones, spotted ones, sick ones(lots of those), young ones, old ones.
And all the owners are making lots of noise, trying to sell, hiring analysts to tout them, producing "programs"
and handouts with past performances. Even the dogs are muttering-'buy me-buy me'
Impossible task, since we wont know for years if we got the right dog.
Compac was better than Dell, once. Until the owner decided to add two more legs.
IMO the best bet is start with the momentum stocks and try to stay with consistent winners. Dump the pigs.

The dice are loaded. Looking at Dell, intc, and Msft-the Street knew at 1:30 that Intc would have a positive report which we do not get until 5:30
