Shaw,

Or does the whole CPE modem industry get so cut throat,
that the only companies that could make money on them would
be some Asian companies, with razor thin margins. Reminds
me of the consumer electronics market, more than 90% Asian
owned companies, with high quality products. They too can
make high quality ADSL modems, don't under estimate them.
Just my opinion.

The ones that will be left are the ones that sell to the RBOC's- WSTL, siemans (the old EFNT) and ALA (now Thompson (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/010607/2267.html).
Those that sell to CLEC's will die (CMTN...)

Down to a just a few. Then the prices of the modems, and the margins, can rise.

Can WSTL survive til then? Can they get the $20 MM? I hope they can go for bonds and not stock. Rates are low....

C'mom boyz, get that paper work done. Issue the press release and let this thing rip....

Will they do something like this?

The above refers to the concern over the likes of 3COM and Alcatel leaving the consumer DSL modem mkt
