hasn't there pipeline improved like five-fold in the last couple of years with lots of other promising drugs on the horizon.

Maybe so; I have no idea. I had just been reading about the one type of cancer that Gleevec fights, in Science News. Apparently it's so effective that some patients experience dangerous internal bleeding when the rapid disappearance of twenty-pound tumors left blood supplies leading to nowhere. I don't really follow Novartis though.

I am a shareholder of Swiss shares of Novartis and am on the e-mail mailing list of Novartis. I am also a shareholder of RDY, an Indian Drug maker and have started a new listing on SI on this company. I do not know if you - as interested in Novartis - have noticed that Novartis has payed RDY $55 milions to get the global distribution rights short of for India. Looks to me that if a big firm like Novartis pays such an amount - and this is only the beginning - RDY should not be overlooked. As a matter of fact, you will see that the share price of RDY has risen much faster than the market as a hole. Why don't you look at it? And let me know what you think of it, as well as a benefit for Novartis as for RDY. Fred Post
