Marty,

I used to have several friends who worked for Greenpeace. I also
know some others and have always worked around the tree huggers
based on my NMFS work and other stuff. Actually, I don't really
fault the enviros too much. Some of their ideas are good ones. But
this whole ANWR stuff is just political. The Demos are trying to make
it Bush's "Waterloo"...its absurd. We need the oil...we need the energy.
I have been to ANWR (unlike 99% of the liberals who want to save it),
I have seen the Alaska Pipeline. It is a modern, clean, engineering
marvel. Oil drilling technology has improved so much, we could even
slant drill National Parks and not even harm a butterfly. The choice
is yours...$8 bucks a gallon for gas, or we improve domestic energy
production.

ps Saddam Hussain is awaiting your decision. He probably will be
able to re-arm if we start buying his oil again like we did back in the
late 1980s...
