high property tax and sales tax in TX are, imho, a tolerable pain given the benefits of no state income tax. this arrangement encourages (or does not discourage) people to earn money and discourages (by taxation) overspending. i am very happy for the existence of all the multimillion-dollar edifice complexes since big spenders have to pay a lot of property tax.

When I last lived there, the property tax was about 1.6%, not too bad, given no state income tax. However, this intangible tax will be a welcome sight to see gone. I think it goes away in about two years, if Bush (Jeb) gets his way.knc
