That makes sense. But, there are some unattractive areas of other arid lands with almost no inhabitants ( Nevada for example). Why not bury the rods in the Nevada desert out near the Extraterrestrial highway? We drove through that area and passed one car,one rattlesnake and a jackrabbit every hour! A cow charged our car once due to the lack of fences........all open range just like the Mexican Hat area of southern Utah.

I realize that the uranium mines have to be located where the deposits are found. It would be nice if those mining companies would stop trying to socialize the expense of the cleanup and leave it up to tax payers.

It's interesting that we haven't had any rolling blackouts in Ca since Jeffords turned the Senate over to the Democrats. We have had 100 degree weather but no blackouts. We haven't even had any alerts .Seems the energy companies haven't seen as much need to close down their generators for routine maintenance. I find it difficult to believe this is pure coincidence.
