To All, Nobody knows the trouble I've seen. The roads are impassable to travel to the race park today. Barron's hasn't made an appearance in Houston. The local daily rag had their warehouse flooded and the power down at the presses, so no comics to cheer me up. And now ABC is continuing to broadcast disaster stories right through The Belmont program time. Some of them are real tear jerkers and my heart goes out to the folks. But I don't think my watching a two minute or so horse race is going to have any impact on whether the patients at The Medical Center can be evacuated or not. Or whether the folks sitting on top of their houses are going to be rescued in time. Yes, it is serious, but watching it on tv does not solve the problem. A little horse race in between the tragedies should give everyone a second wind. <g> Ah, selfishness, thy name is Burke. Still, I say pray for those folks, help the ones you can and show the race.
