I can attribute a certain percentage of my income to being there on the Internet. I also can be assured I will NOT get much business if I don't.

Sounds to me like you're an on again/off again type realtor and you need the internet for any hope in making it in real estate sales.

If you are in the real estate business today, you have NO CHOICE but to have your listings on the "main" real estate website if you want to stay in business.

I'm well acquainted with quite a few (approx 5-6) realtors closing an average of 6-8 deals a month with absolutely no internet presence whatsoever and never have. The internet is just another tool. The way you make it sound is that EVERYONE in real estate MUST be on "HOMS" site to make it....how so false that statement was.

Tradelite,
Thanks for your response. I do feel that the i-net is a great tool for the RE biz. My problem with HOMS is valuation and insider selling(GE Capital has filed to sell several hundred million $'s worth). The barriers to entry on this type of model do not justify in my mind the current valuation. I feel that all the major portals will bring a great deal of competition to HOMS in the future since the biz is so well suited to the i-net. I suspect someone like MS may have the means and deep pockets to improve on this model.
We use a competing web site in our RE business, mainly as a hook to acquire listings. I bought some July 25 puts yesterday.
Thanks again & Good Luck,
Brad
