I was not concise - I'm not short stock, I have 6mo> Puts on a basket of Techs - avge PE tripple-digit, one of them (YHOO) does not even intend to make any profit;\.

Good thinking on Au vs stock market. Either way we all have our safety jackets on, waiting to see what will happen next.

If (if!) the decrease of savings rate is only due to the spending bash of the rich, then the stock market is important only insomuch that the other (who just watch it on CNBC) keep their "feel-good" attitude. The danger IMO is not directly in high multiples but (indirectly) in disappearing profits which will cause layoffs. Will the rich keep on spending? If it's proceeds of capital gains cashed in, the answer is a resounding NO.

Some exogenous factor, waiting to happen?
a) major snafoo in internet backbone
b) East gets a week-long blackout
c) Bank of England calls in a meeting to reschedule/renegotiate physical Au settlements
d) Soros goes live with Larry King AND Maria at the same time
d) State XY (within 1000m of ME) tests successfully a 3000m cruise missile

I know I show a sinister lack of imagination. Help! This is rather practical - it helps your ego to pinpoint ahead of time the butterfly, whose fluttering wings will have caused the F<>up
