TV, well actually, I'm just pleased that those *are* the actual dates, and that we won't see a 2GHz P4 until fall, and Tualatin until ? (July? August? September?)

Whether it is an actual slip, or whether the rumored earlier intro was false, the end result is the same.

(Although I guess one could argue a slip would be worse, since it might indicate process difficulties)

Tony, care to comment on this? Message 15900835

Intel's 1/23/01 roadmap, according to the second reference in my post showed that the Northwood 2 GHz was supposed to be out in Q3, and in November they said it would be out in Q2. Now we're hearing "late Q4" for Northwood.

No Tony.

I repeat, you are mistaken here. I don't print anything I like, or don't like for that matter. On the Week 18 roadmap, dated early May, there were quite clearly price moves and introductions slated for June and July.

Intel itself confirmed its 1.13GHz PIII and 1.2GHz PIII would be released in Q2. A January roadmap is so long back that's it hardly worth the pixels it's occupying.

Further, it's clear from the latest roadmaps I've seen that Intel is making decisions if not on the spur of the moment, then in reaction to market conditions - which to be fair to Intel, is what you would expect.

The week 14 roadmap does not show these speed grades of P4s, for example.

As for the instability of the Athlon that you mention, in fact I was reporting another person's comments. That's my job as well.
