I don't think it's that difficult except for the "paid" threads. It's supposed to be the last 24 hrs compared to the previous 7 days. If a thread is quiet for several days or only has one or two posts per day for a week and then increases by maybe 10 posts, then twenty, etc it should stay top ten for a while until the posters run out of steam - like now. :(

I know for a fact that they keep certain threads off the hot list...I've seen it. Threads that I know should have been high up on the list, did not show up on the hot list.

It had to have been manipulation on someone's part.
