Locally Staples is the closest we come to one of these types of operations. For some time now it has been that the HP display models have been exclusively Intel, with BTO AMD, while the Compaq display models have been exclusively AMD, with BTO Intel.

Re: What are these people talking about?

I think that Intel and its OEMs dumped a lot of product into distribution about 8 or 10 weeks ago and that it was a large, difficult to digest lump - P4's, in particular.

Bob's email did a good job of pulling together some things I'd also noticed.

I have no real information to base this on, just a gut feeling from what I've seen and read over the past 2 months.

And AMD products seems to be replacing that lump as it is digested by the retail sector.

Just an impression I've gotten, I could be wrong.

Regards,

Dan

PS - given that bottom-line-busting inventory dump of Intel's, anything less than 85% unit market share for them in Q2 would represent a real downside surprise, wouldn't you say?
