You are truly an idiot with no knowledge of the military other than what you can glean from FAS websites. it is apparent that you knowledge of the military stops at the enlisted level, which means that what you know about the operational level of warfare (and up) is suspect. Last I checked, most enlisted folks don't know much beyond their MOS's, which in your case appears to be 71L or 92Y.

The 8 years you refer to is called the MSO (military service obligation). However, enlisted folk sign for 2-5 years of active duty, depending on MOS. Subsequently re-enlistments are also in 2-6 year chunks. Of course, once you make E-7 you have "tenure" which means that you are indefinite.

Officers are generally "indef", at least the Academy grads used to be. Now they are USAR-AD like everyone else. Once you make captain, however, you become indef these days. Once you make major, you become RA.

Now go read the FAS websites again; but I'm afraid they don't tell you this.

And if Wen Ho Lee was really guilty, you think they would have let him plea bargained to only one count of mishandling classified information? You are truly a moronic, chairborne Ranger.
