Canada April new housing prices up 0.3 pct on Marc

OTTAWA, June 11 (Reuters) - Canada's index that measures new housing prices rose 0.3 percent in April against March values and jumped 2.7 percent in the
year since April 2000, Statistics Canada said on Monday.

Monthly increases occurred in 12 of the 21 urban centres surveyed, the statistical agency said in its monthly report.

It said higher prices for labor and building materials, in particular insulation, drywall and lumber, were among the reasons for the increase.
